How To Clean An Oven Using Dirtbusters Eco-Friendly Products

What You Will Need

1. Prepare the Oven

Remove the oven racks and trays. If they are heavily soiled, place them in a bucket or sink of hot water with a capful of Dirtbusters Bio Oven Cleaner to soak.

🔑 Top Secret Technique!
Most people — and even some professional oven cleaners — don’t heat the oven before cleaning. This is a mistake! Heat the oven to 80°C before you start. This softens burnt-on carbon, making it far easier to remove without caustic chemicals. Once it reaches 80°C, turn it off — and don’t forget to do so before going inside!

2. The Professional Blade & Scraper Method

Spray Dirtbusters Bio Oven Cleaner onto the inside of the oven and leave it to work for 1–2 minutes while you prepare the blade and scraper.

  • Insert the blade into the top of the scraper and press the side against a hard surface to secure it.
  • Place the blade flat onto the oven surface and move it back and forth without lifting — this removes carbon without scratching.
  • Work section by section until all heavy carbon is removed.

3. Oven Cleaning Paste

Apply Dirtbusters Oven Cleaning Paste using a Stainless Steel Scourer in circular motions to remove any remaining carbon. This can also be your first step if the oven is only lightly soiled.

Once done, wipe the inside with a damp microfibre cloth and clean water, then dry with a clean dry cloth.

4. Cleaning Oven Racks

Remove the racks from the soaking water. Apply Oven Cleaning Paste for heavy dirt or Bio Oven Cleaner for light dirt, and scrub with a Stainless Steel Scourer. Turn the racks over to clean both sides. Rinse with a damp cloth and dry before returning to the oven.

For oven trays, spray Bio Oven Cleaner into the tray with a drop of water, leave for a few minutes, then scrub with a Stainless Steel Scourer or non-scratch pad depending on the tray material.

5. The Outside of the Oven

Spray Dirtbusters Bio Oven Cleaner onto the exterior (avoiding the control panel) and wipe clean with a dry cloth. For stainless steel exteriors, finish with Stainless Steel Oil for a sparkling shine and protection.

Keeping Your Oven Clean

  • Wipe down the oven between uses with Bio Oven Cleaner to prevent build-up.
  • Keep a spare tray at the bottom to catch spills and clean it after each use.
  • Use the full guide for heavily soiled ovens, or skip the Blade & Scraper step for lighter cleans.
